I was a donor with Cooper IVf in New Jersey. I just want to share my story in hopes that no donor will be treated or go through what I went through with this clinic. I went to this clinic with an agency. I never actually met with the doctor that did my procedure until moments before I was go under to do the egg retrieval. I think this alone is very sad you should know who is going to be working on you. Well during all my visits it was blood work and ultrasound I never seen the doctor at all.
After I woke up from my procedure I was in a lot of pain more than 50 eggs I should have been in some pain. I felt like they really rushed me to hurry and get out of the clinic so they could use the room even though I was in a lot of pain. Well I went into the room where I started trying to get dressed but I could barely stand because of the anesthesia I was under. There was a great deal of blood left all over my legs all the way down to my feet but no one offered to help me get it off. I could barely stand let alone bend over to clean my legs off. I asked the nurse if she could get me something to wipe off my legs and she brought me wet paper towels but still did not offer to help me get the blood off. So I left the clinic in shorts with blood all over my legs because I could not bend over to wipe off the blood. Well after this I had to go to the GreatEggs to get pain medication, not really what you want to do after egg retrieval. The clinic never called one time to check on me after the procedure. I was still having complications of nausea, pain, and ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome. I called the agency to go back and get a check up before I flew home so that I could make sure I was ok. I sit in the waiting room at Cooper from 8:45 until 11:30 before I ever got to see the doctor. All the while I was in severe pain. I kept asking when they were going to see me but was told in a few minutes each time. When I finally got to see the doctor she told me I’m sorry you had to wait so long but I did not even get here until after 10 and I had procedures to do, then she proceeded to tell me that she did not know why they booked my appointment so early. Well if this was the case why was I not put in a room to rest or sent back to my hotel to rest instead of sitting 3 hours in an uncomfortable chair in severe pain the entire time. Much of the nursing staff there and donor coordinator are rude and treat their donors like they don’t even matter. I have been a prior donor and there are much better clinics than this one. There are clinics out there that take excellent care of their donors but I am here to tell you this is not the one. So before you send your donor to this clinic please be aware of what they might have to go through. By far the worst clinic I have ever worked with

I have never personally cycled at Cooper, but I know donors that have. A lot of what you have written sounds made up. I don't mean just one thing, I mean all of it. Having done 4 cycles myself, I have never one had blood all over me. It just sin't possible. There isn't much blood spilled in the procedure in the first place. You would have to be some sort of hemopheliac to bleed that much. Apparently you do not know much about the process because the retrieval is done with a small catheter and threaded needle. Also, I have produced as many as 37 eggs, and I was told that this was a totally unbelievable response to the meds. Over 50 seems more than unlikely. In addition to this, almost ALL ER's are scheduled early in the morning.
Cooper is a fine medical facility and treats their donors well. Seeing you bashing them like this is horrible. What reason could you possibly have to do that?

I've never worked with Cooper so I don't know anything about the clinic, but I will say that I don't think all of what the original poster said is unlikely. I have donated twice, each time retrieving more than 50 eggs. I also have done a retrieval in the afternoon, well, AT noon. Also - I went through a clinic that had multiple doctors, and I often saw a different doctor for my appointments than the one that did the retrieval, and I was ok with this.
I've never heard of anyone bleeding like that though. I've had a bit of spotting afterwards, but nothing so extreme as to run down my legs! My clinic never called me afterwards either - I was told to call THEM if I wasn't feeling well or experienced any of the symptoms of OHSS.
I *do* however, think that this post is miscategorized though.

Alright then. I know that you can have that many, it's just rare to the extreame. I don't know how you did that. I had 37 and was miserable. Almost needed to go the the hospital, but luckily the swelling went down on it's own.
But still. No clinic in their right monds would ever let a patient out of the bed if they were bleeding like that. I still believe this to be a false post, and yes, miscatagorized. Still can't figure the motive though. Ex=employee?

I have also heard donors having as many as 50, rare, but its happened. I have also seen many doctors at my clinics as they rotate, even had a different md do the ER so... I think your bashing of her statements may have been jumping the gun and a bit uncalled for

I just recently donated my eggs in Toronto. 17 eggs were retrived. I did not bleed and barely spotted. I had no pain afterwards either. I was just sleepy. Overall I had a good experience. I guess the clinics in Canada are a little different. The doctor only retrieves the largest eggs.
I was wonder if you girls worked with an agency to match you with IP or did you match your self. Also how much are you compensated. I was compensated $5,000, and also given $300 for expenses ie babysitting and gas.
Thanks girls
