I have lots of experience with cycling in Boston. I used Tiny Treasures some years ago and at that time it was a one-woman operation - a former donor who started an agency. I did have problems with them. They were very donor biased and I even got stuck paying extra for travel and a number of other smaller things. Also communication was a problem and my RE had to ask the agency to butt out of the process. With all that being said, they now have a another woman who deals with the recipients and I don't think you will encounter the same problems that I had. I was fortunate and had a DD after my cycle with them. Although I went through 3 donors before we found one that my RE would work with...one was even proven at a different clinic but my RE would not use her.
Bob Nichols has the best reputation in the area and while they are a little more expensive you won't have as many problems. If I were going to use another agency I would use Bob Nichols...he did my contract and was very professional.
If I could offer you some advice I would say start the process now. I've completed 5 cycles, three fresh and two FET's, I have one DD and am expecting twins in a few weeks and I can tell you I am at the end of my DE journey but I've learned a lot. It will take you 6 months to get it all together. 3 or 4 months if you are lucky, but I know that BWH and RSC are kinda slow so 6 months from beginning to end is about par. You may have to do a mock cycle which lasts about 40 days, and your donor may have cycles lined up and you may have to wait on her. ALso if you chose an unproven donor she will have to go through a lot of testing and it all takes time. I started my first cycle in November and had the Embryo transfer in April...I took a long time to work it all out. So if you want to cycle in 6 months start now...if you want to cycle in a year, start in 6 months.
Best of Luck!

for your response. I appreciate the time you took to share your experiences. This whole experience is so difficult, the last thing I need is to choose the wrong agency..It took me long enough to find an RE who would give me a shot with my own eggs! Your information helps a lot and I have heard good things about Bob Nichols and some bad things about Tiny Treasures. Is that the only agency you used??? Your DD and your twins were from the same donor? If you don't mind me asking! I will strongly consider Bob Nichols as he seems very reputable. As far as clinics go, I have not decided on that to stay where I am or go back to one of the other ones. Do mind my asking where you have had your success?? Thanks again Melanie for your help, I truly appreciate it so very much. It might be wise for us to start the move on this now so in six months we are ready to roll with it. All my best to you and thanks again.

Yup I had success at BWH and would have stayed there except I was planning to cycle in the summer. All in all I did four cycles in the greater Boston area. I teach in Providence RI and am there 3 days a weeks, otherwise I am at my home in Vermont and since I was going to be on summer vacation I decided to cycle closer to Vermont.
Agencies can be a real pain. I used TT and had my contract written by Bob Nichols. I considered using B. Nichols for this past cycle but the donors I was interested in were booked or out of my price range. Albany had a donor pool and that worked well for me. There are pros and cons to agencies and donor pools. None of them are prefect. Just be sure you look at the situation from all sides.
Best of Luck!

I am currently at W&I in Providence and love them. I would like to stay there for DE if possible. It is easy enough for me to go to Boston too, so I may look into other clinics for DE...Thanks again for all of the info it really is helpful...All my best to you...

Good experience with Tiny Treasures

Postby Chenny » Tue Mar 21, 2006 12:11 am

I worked with Tiny Treasures for DE and had quite a pleasant experience - they have changed staff over the years and I worked with a donor and then through Brigham and Women's in Boston and had a wonderful experience. The coordinators there were very helpful and knowledgeable, I think, AND I'm pregnant with TWINS! My guess is your experience will depend on who your coordinator is there, but I only have good things to say about the agency as a while and I have several friends who would say the same. Good Luck1
