Inquiring about a shared cycle in Toronto,Ontario

Postby Peggy » Tue Jul 10, 2007 10:23 pm

my husband and I are looking for an egg donor. I came across some information regarding \"shared cycles\". If anyone is interested in discussing this topic, please respond. I am curious about the whole procedure.

Shared Cycle

Postby Robiann » Sun Jul 22, 2007 8:46 pm

Shared cycle is no longer done in Toronto. I tried doing one in June 07, with another couple and we got all the way to the point where I had started taking the medications and it had to be cancelled, because the doctor could not find a clinic that would do it. It has to do with the new laws and the clinics are covering their backs. They have no problem doing a straight donation, but not shared.

Sorry I didn't have better news.

Hi There

There are actually a couple of clinics in Canada that will still do shared cycles. I know of one in Toronto, but they will typically only deal with someone as an inbetween....

actually if you are bringing your own donor most clinics don't care as long as you are aware of the risks associated ( lower amount of embryos, having to deal with another couple for reasons of anonimity.....)

I know that Lifequest, Repromed, TCART, SOFT, as well as Dr. Virro do.

I would also advise against having a go between. I think to many chefs in the kitchen.............I also think many clinics are becoming very leary of agencies here in Canada. Especially with the laws surrounding ovum donation.

Good luck in your search for a clinic. If you want to chat feel free to pm me.
