I found Judy Weiss, from A Jewish Blessing to be very thoughtful about the matching process for us... she presents the donor as an individual to you, based on your wishlist. No blast e-mails to a a huge group of would-be recipients all competing with each other to get the donor first (this is what NY Lifespring does). She doesn't push! She let's you lead the process and is accommodating in every way.
Judy never pushed me to choose a donor who wasn't an appropriate match, for example, she didn't send me dark Sephardic women from Syria when clearly I am a fair skinned European Ashkenazi woman (and was looking for the same). She is also a prior RN at a fertility clinic where she headed up Ovum Donation, so she comes from professional experience. She is fastidious with her screening and she is careful to really ask about the donor's Jewish background (ie, ascertaining if she is halachically Jewish and sharing this information upfront). She rejects donors all the time, and combs through their whole family history, I trust her implicitly.
Not that there weren't bumps in the road! We had a donor really flake out on us, but the point is Judy made good and made it right! She got us a great donor, we got pregnant, and even have several embryos frozen for future use. Also, she didn't push us to do shared cycles (found NY Lifespring really resisted solo cycles). In the end, we got a $3000 escrow check back for unused funds, no questions asked.
