I was a donor with Cooper IVf in New Jersey. I just want to share my story in hopes that no donor will be treated or go through what I went through with this clinic. I went to this clinic with an agency. I never actually met with the doctor that did my procedure until moments before I was go under to do the egg retrieval. I think this alone is very sad you should know who is going to be working on you. Well during all my visits it was blood work and ultrasound I never seen the doctor at all.
After I woke up from my procedure I was in a lot of pain more than 50 eggs I should have been in some pain. I felt like they really rushed me to hurry and get out of the clinic so they could use the room even though I was in a lot of pain. Well I went into the room where I started trying to get dressed but I could barely stand because of the anesthesia I was under. There was a great deal of blood left all over my legs all the way down to my feet but no one offered to help me get it off. I could barely stand let alone bend over to clean my legs off. I asked the nurse if she could get me something to wipe off my legs and she brought me wet paper towels but still did not offer to help me get the blood off. So I left the clinic in shorts with blood all over my legs because I could not bend over to wipe off the blood. Well after this I had to go to the GreatEggs to get pain medication, not really what you want to do after egg retrieval. The clinic never called one time to check on me after the procedure. I was still having complications of nausea, pain, and ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome. I called the agency to go back and get a check up before I flew home so that I could make sure I was ok. I sit in the waiting room at Cooper from 8:45 until 11:30 before I ever got to see the doctor. All the while I was in severe pain. I kept asking when they were going to see me but was told in a few minutes each time. When I finally got to see the doctor she told me I’m sorry you had to wait so long but I did not even get here until after 10 and I had procedures to do, then she proceeded to tell me that she did not know why they booked my appointment so early. Well if this was the case why was I not put in a room to rest or sent back to my hotel to rest instead of sitting 3 hours in an uncomfortable chair in severe pain the entire time. Much of the nursing staff there and donor coordinator are rude and treat their donors like they don’t even matter. I have been a prior donor and there are much better clinics than this one. There are clinics out there that take excellent care of their donors but I am here to tell you this is not the one. So before you send your donor to this clinic please be aware of what they might have to go through. By far the worst clinic I have ever worked with
