PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS AGENCY - BAD ACCOUNTING - BAD COMMUNICATION. The only thing they are good at it taking your money!
I recently used the Donor Source. I started my process in November of 2005 and it took over 2 months before they started anything. Lots of excuses - no return phone calls or communication. It was very frustrating. The only thing they did immediately was charge my credit card and cash my check.
I was never notified of anything by the Donor Source during the entire process. I did not even know when she came in town for the retrevial or that she had to have an extended stay until I called my Dr. for an update.
Because I used an out of state donor there were extra fees. I was told the additional fees were estimated and I should expect a refund after all the accounting was completed.
Well rather then a refund they actually charged by credit card an additional $1,300 without my authorization.
First they told me the cost for the agency to manage an outside donor was $5,250 and I signed a contract agreeing to that amount. Except they charged my credit card 5,750.
In addition not only double charged me for my donors ultrasounds but they charged me more then double the cost. Ultrasounds that should have been $90 - $150 they charged me $460.00 each for.
This was a very Stressful Process for me because of the lack of communication from the agency and the continual phone calls and followups I had to make. Because they would never respond to me I had to work totally through my Dr. to get any information.
I decided to use another agency the second time around because of the bad experience with the Donor Source. What an amazing difference in communication, organization, and just all around service. I'd recommend them (Giving Hope) for anyone interested. I know there are other agencies that are good but what ever you do please check out other agencys before you look at the Donor Source as many of the donors on that site are also available on other agency sites.
