I had the same experience...I went to TPPC because I had a long-term relationship with a local SIRM clinic. I also paid the $200 to access the database. We did find 3 acceptable donors, but ultimately for various reasons, the donors could not cycle. TPPC's policy is to keep the agency fee $3,000 even if the donor does not donate because of failing to pass blood work. If you go with them, be sure there are multiple donors who will work for you.
Also, note that TPPC requires payment of their agency fee $3,000, travel expenses ($1500), donor fee ($5,000+) and another fee that I can't remember right now just to book a donor. I thought the staff was very professional, but I don't think they are doing what they need to do to maintain a \"competitive\" database. That, together with their policy of keeping their agency fee if a donor backs out or doesn't cycle for any reason does not put the burden on TPPC to maintain a quality database. They make the money regardless of whether you actually go forward and cycle. Last edited by Mallorca on Fri Apr 07, 2006 12:18 pm, edited 1 time in total.
disappointed with themI was told by Dr S that they had over 400 donors. I was really really disappointed. After paying $200 and then narrowing by eye color and blood type I had very very few selections. I also noticed that they have not added anyone since I signed up 1.5 months ago. This whole process is just brutal.
WeaselWould you mind emailing me about TPP and their database please......
donor4u02@yahoo.com I have a question for you or anyone who has used TPP lately....
Should not pay to see data baseI'm also a patient at SIRM - Las Vegas. I've accessed TTP (Foot Steps to Family) for free  maybe that's a new policy. Yes I agree their data base isn't often updated, and we found only one donor that met our criteria. We've just put a hold on her, so can't comment on the process yet. So far they have been helpful and prompt  Have my fingers crossed that it continues to be a good experience.
