My personal opinion

Postby JaneP (not the other Jane » Sat Apr 15, 2006 3:40 pm

Dear posters -

First, allow me to begin with saying that 1) I am a donor with ED Inc 2) This is my personal opinion and experience, it is an isolated opinion. Take it as you will.

I've been with ED Inc for about a year and have not had any experiences like some of those who are unhappy with the agency. I've cycled three times, only 2 of which were completed. The second cycle ended early because the couple wanted ED Inc to work out of protocol and they refused. I was contacted immediately by ED Inc and compensated to the full term of the agreement.

My case coordinator is one of the best. If I could hire her to work for me, I would. She responds immediately to everytime I email her. She checks in on me to see how i'm doing. She facilitates coordination between me and the couple. She has accomodated all of mine and my recipient couples requests. I was so pleased with the last cycle I sent the office a gift of gratitude because they took excellent care of me.

Furthermore, the facility in MD is one of the top ranked facilities in the country, NOT according to them, but according to the independent research I've done on my own accord.

Go ahead, check my IP address, I'm a legitimate donor, not some staff member at ED Inc that is trying to post positive things about ED Inc just because it got some bad reviews. When I heard about the horrible things said about the agency, I felt it incumbent upon myself to defend some really good people.

Here's the thing, this is a VERY sensitive subject with alot of gray area. There's elements of confidentiality that have to be dealt with, actually, there's MANY. There's so many intricate details as to why we donate, why we want to conceive, why we do what we do. Its not cut and dry, its not for everyone. This is fundamentally a matching system. And I match well with EDInc's system. If you are unhappy with them or you don't feel comfortable using them, then DON'T. This is too important and you need to go with your gut.

Like I said, this is just my personal opinion, my gut is very happy with ED Inc...I wouldn't go anywhere else and I definitely checked out at least 10 other agencies before I went with them. I've never regretted it, not once.

Please, feel free to comment, as this is an open forum. I will be happy to answer any questions anyone has.

JaneP,
Thanks for your message. It's good to hear from someone who's had a positive experience. I'm at the beginning of my journey and just starting to look into agencies. I'm not asking you to breach any confidentiality, but I'm interested in what you mean when you mention special requests that you and the recipients made that the agency handled. Every agency I've investigated claims to be there for you and accommodating, etc. But could you give some specific examples of the types of things you asked for that were handled promptly and attentively? All the stuff I've read seems so cut and dry that I'm interested in the types of things that come up as you navigate your way through the process. But again, if you don't feel comfortable sharing, I completely understand. I'm just trying to get as much info as I can. Thanks.

How would you know if they had \"accommodated all of your recipient couples requests?\" You mean they accommodated the requests that they made you aware of or were you in direct contact with the IP for every donation so that you can say that with 100% reliability?

\"My case coordinator is one of the best. If I could hire her to work for me, I would. \"

They have pretty heavy turn-over(I wonder why?) so you probably could hire her. Or is the problem that you don't know where she is working now and can't find her?

Response

To the first poster: Because I prefer to maintain a level annonymity, I ask my coordinator to relay messages to the recipient for me. She always does, QUICKLY and then emails me back with the response. She has facilitated all of my requests and I've always been very pleased. And I can verify that I've been told the truth and never misled because in fact, I MET the first couple, at their behest and I confirmed everything. I have no reason to distrust my case coordinator. When things went awry with the travel agent I was working with, my case coordinator stepped in personally to assist me with getting things squared away over a weekend. She gave me her cell phone number, she went above and beyond. I will reiterate, it is a PERSONAL PREFERENCE, I have fully enjoyed my experience with Egg Donation Inc.

To the other two posters: \"Guest and Guest 10\" Infer what you will, it doesn't sway my opinion which is based on my own personal frame of reference. Egg Donation Inc has fulfilled all aspects of our agreement and working relationship. I cannot speak to other's experiences, but only to mine. The same goes for you. I respect your opinion and the experience you base it on. However, it isn't consistent with my own and therefore I continue to support ED Inc. Not to mention, the two individuals I have worked with since day 1, one has worked there for over 10 years and the other is happily employed there for several years. I know nothing of the excessive turnover rate.
