Recommend with Reservations

Postby Fran » Fri Mar 24, 2006 12:02 pm

I used Renew back in December and was unsuccessful... No fault of Renew's or the clinic, it just did not work out. I was very happy with the follow-through and level of attention I received.

The reason why I am now recommending with reservations is that my original reason for going to Renew - or at least one reason - was due to their significant Black donor base. I am African American btw and my husband is Caucasion, so we want to have a Black donor... Renew's donor data base has recently \"shrunk\" however - including their Black donors.

I am hoping that this is just temporary and that they are going through a refresh of sorts, but until this changes, I am recommending with reservations.

I agree with your comments as well as Roni's about Renew. Question for you though, you mentioned you are African American with a Caucasion husband and because of that you wanted an AA or black donor. Wouldn't you want a black donor no matter what race your husband is since you are black??This is probably not the right forum for that discussion but I was just trying to understand...

Hi JJ, in South Africa, they have colored (mixed) or Black (African). I am interested in Black donors... If my husband was African American, I would be willing to consider a Colored (lighter) donor. I have a lot of \"hues of Brown\" in my family anyway - spanning from very light (my oldest brother) to very dark (my middle brother). This is how the fact that my husband is Caucasion factors into the donor decision for Renew.
