The Donor Source...They had a great selection and donor was always where she was supposed to be, although once I paid them, I never personally heard from them again, which seemed a bit strange.
The Donor SourceThe Donor Source is owned by a group of doctors from a fertility clinic group called Genesis IVF. See genesisivf.com for the list of clinics, which extend all over the west coast. There is nothing on the Donor Source web site which lets you know this and nothing which gives you names or contact info for the administration. You are always dealing with a \"donor representative\" and have to ask who to talk to at their main office in Newport Beach. It looks like the doctors involved are \"silent\" owners/investors in this clinic. If you go to genesisivf.com, you'll see a link at the top for egg donors which if you click it, takes you immediately to The Donor Source web site. No explanation. There's something odd and not quite up front about this whole thing that seems slightly unsavory. Shouldn't consumers know that these clinics might have a vested interest in recommending or working with The Donor Source because of profits? No where can you find any of this info on the web site.
Also, beward of the retainer fee charge by this egg agency which holds you to work with them even if your donor doesn't work out (through no fault of yours). They may not have any more donors you want to work with but you've paid this large fee which is non-refundable. It's basically trying to retain you as a customer and to keep you from going to competing agencies because you are financially invested already with them. Why should you have to stay with any particular agency?
No ProblemsMy experiance with The Donor Source has been nothing but positive. The staff is very responsive and the donor I have selected has proved to be an angel.
The Donor SourceI am the CEO of The Donor Source. I regret that the ownership structure of The Donor Source has not been clear to some who desire to know. Therefore, I wish to write this clarification as our ownership is not only public knowledge but something we are proud of.
The Donor Source is an LLC in which there are number of owners. Four of those owners are fertility physicians. Those physicians who had or have their own donor programs, as is very common in the fertility field, also (or instead) felt it beneficial to encourage the development of a large pool of qualified donors via an agency with widespread advertising for and screening of donors. Access to a large pool of donors via an agency that follows all ethical standards for donor programs is very beneficial to patients of those fertility physicians' practices. Genesis IVF does not own The Donor Source. Several of the physicians who are members of the Genesis IVF network are also owners of shares in The Donor Source, but the vast majority of members of Genesis IVF have no ownership interest in The Donor Source. The existence of a link to The Donor Source on the Genesis IVF web site does not imply ownership or other sponsorship. Should anyone who visits this site wish to talk to me further regarding the above or regarding anything to do with The Donor Source, my name is Steve Masler, and they can feel free to call me at (949)726-0652 or write to me at smasler@aol.com.
