ReproMed never again

We also have concerns about this clinic and the one egg donor agency it uses, Our Fairy Godmother. The donor agency is run by a former employee of Repromed, and as soon as the money exchanged hands, she was gone, without even so much as a receipt. I called her once using a phone number given to me by ReproMed, and Cathy asked me not to call her again, but to use the email instead. I felt insulted, considering I was paying her over $20 000.00

Dr. DelValle is the only doctor working at the clinic, so, if there is a problem with another patient, you are left waiting two hours or more. In addition, I had not menstruated for TWO YEARS before we did the fresh cycle with the donor eggs. According to other doctors, that should not have happened, and I should have had a few menstrual cycles with HRT before going ahead with the IVF. I questioned Dr. DelValle at the time, and he said not to worry, and the donor had started her injections, so it was too late to stop her cycling. In hindsight, since the fresh IVF failed, I believe it was extremely poor coordination on the part of the clinic.

Similar to the other posting, we paid a lot in additional tests we felt we did not need; they had been recently done at other clinics. Dr. DelValle also repeated tests on the donor that her US clinic had performed, and when we asked about this and challenged his testing procedures, he took off a mere $200.00 from our thousands-of-dollars bill.

One of the most horrifying things Dr. DelValle did occurred during our second IVF attempt with frozen embryos. I was on the table, awaiting the embryos, having psyched myself up to be uber-positive for just this moment, when he came in and told me only half the embryos survived the freeze - thaw process, so we were left with only 2 embryos and this would be our final attempt. Talk about pressure! I started to cry on the spot, laying there, my crotch exposed to the world, obviously upset. Why THAT moment was selected to tell us the other embryos did not survive is beyond me.

The good news is, we are never going back there and have booked ourselves in with a different clinic.

Our Fairy Godmother

Postby eggedout » Tue Jun 23, 2009 4:36 pm

We had a HORRIBLE experience with Our Fairy Godmother. I wish this website would post this agency separately from Repromed as we were working with another Toronto clinic when we used them. The director came across at first as very caring and committed to helping us. After we gave them the $10.000.00 down payment, they basically dropped us like a hot potatoe. After many miscommunications and supposed donor disappearances and other circumstances, it cost us $20.000.00 and took over a year to finally get a donor that ended up giving us only one viable embryo to transfer. We could NEVER recommend this agency to anyone.[/u]
